Welcome to my shrine for Princess Peach! | Please keep in mind this is a yume space in addition to a place that hosts graphics! Be nice. | You can read about my AU, look at photos of Peach I'm collecting, take graphics, and more!
About:

This is a shrine about my oc Briar's relationship with Princess Peach, as well as Peach herself. If you didn't know (you didn't), I am a sharing yumejin (or gachikoi/fictoromantic, whatever you want to call it), and Peach is my current partner.
This part of the site is devoted to our AU (alternate universe) that allows me to be with her, as I find that 'Mario' can also function as more of a role than a person. As such, my character is the one who takes the Mario Brothers' place in the Mushroom Kingdom.
(This isn't to say I hate Mario, however, as he and Luigi are very dear to me, as well.)

I hope this place is cute enough to distract you from the fact that it matches none of the other parts of the website! My Princess is just like that, she needs more of her own space and I built it for her lol

I also hope you like the AU and so on, but I'm just really liking the pink layout I made... Please stay tuned for more, I still have more AU fics in the works!

About the AU!

In my AU, the Mario Bros. never arrived to the Mushroom Kingdom, so a new hero had to emerge. Blair, an evil, wicked girl in the true world, was the one who fell into the kingdom. She landed in a small, but strange, purple kingdom that reflected her wicked heart. She felt happy here, made herself queen, and stayed with the ghosts and the bones that defined its citizens.

However, sooner or later, everything must end.
How Blair's small happiness ended was when Lord Bowser came from his kingdom, headed in the direction of the mushroom kingdom. In his haste, he rushed over her kingdom, exposing the secret location to his allies. The Koopas came all at once, raiding it the moment it was discovered, plundering until there was nothing left. All of her subjects returned to death, feeling unwelcome in their haunting.

Blair, grieving her subjects, grew furious and bold. Seeing that Bowser had kidnapped the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom - of which she barely knew - she understood what had to be done. In under a day, she wormed her way into Bowser's Castle and kidnapped his precious jewel...

And then...?

When she kidnapped her, she assumed that this girl was actually Bowser's wife or family member of some kind, estranged or otherwise. Why else would she hear rumors of him openly planning to kidnap her, if she wasn't? Despite not even knowing what this Princess looked like, she plotted to ransom her out, make him have something to owe to her.
But, to her surprise, the young woman she rescued clasped her hands around Blair's hands and thanked her excitedly. She told Blair the story of the whole ordeal, and Blair listened in silence. She didn't dare to speak a word of her original plan, and she simply nodded along.

There was no need to tell her, Blair reasoned, so she kept her mouth shut in the coming days. Besides, she was growing fond of both the Princess and the lifestyle she was introduced to through her debts to her.
She told Peach about her own origins, where she came from, and where she lived, and Peach listened dearly to her. She laughed at the most unexpected things and made jokes that seemed unbecoming to a Princess. In these moments, she felt as if they were one, and as if they could be like this, forever.

But, again, things that are easy and good don't stay that way forever.

And then......?!

About perhaps three months into this new life, after being sheltered and loved by the Princess, a group of Koopas were said to have been spotted out beyond the hills of the Mushroom Kingdom. Blair knew the spot well, and she scowled as the Toad reported it to her and the Princess. It was her previous haven, which was now no more than a resort for Bowser and his minions...
It was the one thing she hadn't told Peach, that she was Queen of a former kingdom. She didn't know why, but she had just a feeling that her Peach would have something to say about it...

She promised Peach, with a smile and a thump to her chest, that she would take care of the Koopas, one way or another, so that Peach could stay here. And as she left, she understood that this would be her first mission for someone other than just herself.

She approached the Koopas with her fire power, knowing she had an invincibility star as her true weapon. There were only a group of five, but she knew well from her foray into the Castle that there were near infinite numbers, just waiting for the command.
But, to her surprise, it seemed to be the same five she had seen that day. And they immediately seemed to notice the same of her, too.

They approached her with a small piece of information... they, having been there, knew of the real reason Blair came to the Castle that day. And they had figured out and reported to Bowser why she retrieved the Princess that day.
Moreover, they threatened to interrupt that peaceful life they knew she had in the Mushroom Kingdom if she didn't step aside and let them return the Princess to their Lord.

But Blair, who was shocked at their audacity, simply turned to battle. She fought and defeated four of them with her fire, but the fifth slipped down a pipe that had emerged from the ground. She narrowed her eyes as she peered at the horizon, eyeing the fire and ash of Bowser's Kingdom.

Wow! And then?

Blair had no choice but to continue on and return to Peach's Castle. She had to prepare the Princess for the fallout of her failure here, and she was fully prepared to accept the consequences.
She was used to disappointment in her life, and she knew she would be okay. There was nothing else in this life she could do except carry on, and she knew this fantasy world would be kind to her in one way or another.

As she prepared to walk in the door, however, she was greeted by Toads screaming in frenzy! The Princess was missing, and they all clambered over to her for support and comfort.
They begged her to help them, saying that the magikoopa, Kamek, had flown into the Castle and cast a sleeping spell in her absence. Everyone, including the Princess fell into a temporary, deep sleep, and when they awoke, Peach was missing!

Upon hearing this, Blair scowled. How much of a fool could she have been? Of course it was a setup directly for her. The Koopas must have been sent to deal with her directly and separately, but underestimated her. Or perhaps Bowser simply wanted a challenge, face to face.
Either way... she knew that Bowser knew. And she, like clockwork, fell into the trap and perhaps followed his plan to the exact letter.

...And then?

Taking a series of pipes and paths across the Kingdom, Blair was determined to save her Princess. And when she did, she wanted to tell her all of her secrets, at last. But, regardless of her secrets, how DARE Bowser and his little minions take her, of all people?

Along the way, she slammed into Koopas, bashing their shells into each other, and flinging all kinds of strange powers she found at them. This fantasy land, which she thought she knew when she was safe in her kingdom, was much more fantastical than she realised. She gained all sorts of temporary powers that let her go almost everywhere. It was alien to her, but she would do anything to protect the one person who cared for her so deeply.

Eventually, after taking an airship and trekking across the span of two Kingdoms, she caught up to the beast who took Peach from her. She barked his name into the air, daring him to face her as she stood tall with her fire powers. She had already used the star in her journey, but she felt it only poetic to reserve her only fire flower for Bowser.

It wasn't Bowser who answered, not immediately, but a swarm of monsters, all padding towards her.
She had seen them all on her journey, and she defeated them all the same, just as she would now. But, despite it all, she fought with a spike of worry in her heart, followed by a renewed rage. She knew these fights were all for Her, and now she was circling around the very end.

And finally?

When she finally entered the Castle, she found it to be a maze of puzzles and traps, each one tauntingly stamped with the face of Bowser. It was almost comical how many things in his own domain bared his face; she kicked at one, burying it in a pile of ash as she continued onward.
And the heat of this castle was nearly unbearable, but she simply had to bear it. In her mind, Peach must have it much, much worse, so she climbed up to her as fast as she could.

After pushing past one last group of Dry Bones and Beetles, leaning on one of the oversized chains, she saw it. Bowser had her Princess in his clutches, staring up at her from atop of his world. As fast as she could, she opened the gates to stand on the same level, and she glared at him as they were finally face to face.
She had to admit, she had never seen Bowser before, but now that she saw him, she wanted to make sure she never did again.

At once, she made a dash under him, launching a hefty fire ball, which he dodged with a jump. When he landed, it shook the entire Castle. With a laugh, he threw Peach into the air and locked her in a cage, with Paratroopas lifting her into the rafters. Her gaze grew wide as she looked up, and for a moment she almost let her guard down.
With a swift movement, she bounced away from Bowser's fire and hung onto a chain. She returned fire at once, jumping from platform to platform as she tried to evade his counterattacks.

It went on like this for a long time, her circling him as she tried not to be roasted and killed. But she endured it, if not for herself, for her Princess. She had never met someone who was as thoughtlessly kind to her, and now it was her turn to return the favor for good.

As she looked around, her eyes wandered to a part of the room that Bowser guarded heavily. Inbetween bursts of flame, she bounced from her latest platform, off his head, and climbed the chain on the other side of him. It was a blackened axe, about Bowser-sized, that seemed like it served.. some purpose. And, when he saw her near it, he slammed his body against the floor once more, shaking her down.

But it was too late. She scrambled to her feet at once and ran over to the axe. Bowser growled at her and tried to jump at her, but she shot a ball of fire at his eyes.
Bowser yelled out in pain and tripped over his tail, the force of the fall knocking Blair into the flag at high speed. All at once, the flag bent over and broke into two on the floor; the floor, in response, opened its jaws and turned to a gaping pit of molten lava. Bowser scrambled to get out, clawing the opening doors as he fell, but ultimately became consumed by the lava.

What happens next?

Blair, after heaving the axe back into the original position, shot the Princess's cage down by shooting at the Paratroopas. The cage from under Peach's feet, and she tumbled out with a scream. But Blair caught her with a running jump, kneeling on the floor to ease her down.
Looking at her now, she felt inclined to tell her the truth. But, the more she understood her journey, the less all of that mattered to her. Looking at her Princess, she knew that it wouldn't matter to her, either.

Instead, she just chuckled and helped her up. With a laugh and smile, she settled for simply telling her there was so much that she needed to say when they returned home.
And Peach, returning her laugh with a small chuckle, gave her a kiss on the cheek as they escaped together.

I'm still working on these! I clip them from TSR and various Wikis when I see cute sprites.

To me, our IRL story isn't very special, but I will tell it anyway because I don't care. I think it's fun, even though it isn't very long, and maybe someone will learn something about the yume/ficto community mindset from it.

I've always admired Princess Peach for some abstract quality that I think a lot of people miss about her? She's a very loving and caring person, and she's also just a more or less realistic (if not flattering and archetypal) image of a girl. Most princesses in media are regal types who barely say a word for themselves or have to use their words to speak to their people or to the hero. Peach does this well and gracefully, but she also gets to be another type of Princess, too...

I started actively yumeshipping anyone around the time Scarlet/Violet came out, so let's say she and I began dating around... November or December of 2022 or into January 2023. So I would have been 18 at the time.

It was a joke for me at first, like 'oh look, I can have any wife with fictional characters, so I'll choose the girl from Scarlet/Violet (Mela) teehee', and that's what it was on the surface at the time. I think it was a little disrespectful to the community, looking back, but it turned out to be real, so perhaps that's my karma?

However, sooner or later, and with a little bit of research into fictosexuality (I'm asexual and always have been, hi), I learned more about what I was actually saying and that I really could be validly in love with fictional characters. Even though I'm sure I knew there was nothing wrong with it in the way I wanted to do it, as I wasn't using it to cope with anything or heal, I let the expectations of others get the best of me then.

So, for that reason, I decided to stop selfshipping with her for a long time, as I felt my heart wasn't truly in it just yet. I still loved and admired her in everything she did, mained her in every game that she was in, but I didn't feel... worthy of her? I'm not sure there's a good term for it. Either way, I let my feelings fade into a null feeling, and I accepted that I most likely would not be shipping with her again...

And then... earlier this year, perhaps a few months ago from now, even, I decided to re-play the first Mario vs. Rabbids game.....

I truly don't know what it was about this game, especially since I never played the DLC or the sequel, but I LOVED it... and my Princess's entrance was so much fun that I simply adored her. She floated down from the sky with her umbrella, right as Mario and his companions were captured in ice, and blasted them with her Boomshot blaster... and then she's such a powerhouse! Even if I didn't fall in love with her again, her healing jump power was incredible for the game! And she's got a good mix of range with the ducky bomb, and then combine that with her explosive powers with the gun...

Anyway, this game alone was enough to rekindle a spark of the love I felt for her in the background, one which I let myself lose. And this being so recent in my life, I made this shrine to keep the feeling going and foster it so that it can grow as strong as my idols in the community's bonds with their fictional others.

That is to say, even though we don't have as strong a bond as others, I call this gachikoi through my efforts alone. And so, thank you for reading (if you did)!.

Okay! Let's get into the controversial zone, I suppose?

To start with, I don't like her in the Mario Movie by Illumination. I didn't have a lot of faith in her portrayal (or care tbh) when I understood that that was the studio making the movie, but somehow it was even worse...

To start with, I'll explain a few of my reasons for not liking her by just explaining the whole main cast. I think everyone in the movie besides Bowser (who really can't be messed up imo) is off-model in very subtle ways that make them worse looking? I know its hard to go from video game renders that never stray from their origins to big screen personal renditions of characters, and they DID do a good job, but... It's the little details for me.

The Bros are a little chibified which is fun and cute, and they're just okay in my opinion. Passing grade. And while Mario has a different style to match Pratt's voice, Luigi is pretty nice in comparison and acts like a more cartoony version of Luigi. Mario doesn't give... Mario to me? Although I think that's just more Illumination Studios vibe more than his fault, so I'm giving both their little quirks passes and approving them.

And yet, I can't say I like Princess Peach? I feel like they made changes to her face and motions that they didn't make to the Bros. Like they swapped her actual canon features for some that could serve her character in the movie (we'll get into that). I can't even say it's her, as she makes faces I never felt that she would make before. There's no graphics of her in the movie on here for that reason, as I feel that movie Peach is more of a cosplay of Peach than a version of her.

Okay... NOW. I have to say that Princess Peach is a very under-understood (not misunderstood) character by a lot of Mario fans, even. Something I've seen a lot, and even spoken about, is that people heavily dislike her damsel in distress and more sub-roles stance in the series. And so, in correction to this common feedback/criticism, Nintendo and related parties have admitted that they didn't give her a more active role in the past for one reason or another. What tends to happen next is that she's given subtly abrasive traits to 'minimize' her femininity and usual role in the Mario story. And then now, when Odyssey came out, they did a similar background change to Pauline by defining her post-DK as an employed mayor/politician who isn't in Peach's shadow at all.

With that out of the way, what I'll say is that Peach seems to be the Western version of that? And, like I originally predicted, what happened was they scraped her feminine side (which is definitively key to making her Princess Peach), and gave her more active, more traditionally masculine-coded traits...

Normally, this kind of thing is celebrated and/or ignored by me, but my problem is... that is not Princess Peach. She doesn't do these kinds of things? Like she DOES, but the undertones of her character seem to come from a snarky, performative change rather than the love and care and playfulness her traditional character comes from... And that's why I always call her the most understood misunderstood character, because we get changes like this...?

I'm not really equipped to play with this critique in the way it requires, though... If you really want to know my feelings on her character, you might get more insight by reading our AU?

TLDR..... Daisy... they made her Daisy.... (and then refuse to give Daisy any screentime or a game or anything.. HELLO NINTENDO maybe that would help when you don't have only one active Princess through the whole series to bear the feminine weight)... also Feminine/Girly does NOT!!!!!! equal helpless and in need of acting like/needing to be saved by a man!

Actually, in the same way, I don't think her being abducted is bad either, although it's unoriginal at this point. Like I feel Odyssey was the perfect way out of having Peach out of the role of always being abducted, and since then we've seen her get to branch out into Showtime. We're not owed any kind of change of formula (even though it would be refreshing), but I'm hoping that as they go forward, we do get to see more of the real Peach and not this girl.
