Himesama "Goumon" no Jikan Desu
I just wanted to write a short write up since I got sucked into this anime.
At heart, I'm just the emotional and overly empathetic type, so healing anime, shoujo, cute things & similar? those are the types of things that make me just die from how much I love them. So I was happy to find yet ANOTHER healing anime... this one didn't even have sexualization somehow! Just random trope gags..
The plot is that Hime-sama is basically abducted and brought to the prisons for crimes against the demon lord where she fought against him in their everlasting war. She is one of the most battle-hardened warriors and the most capable there ever was. She has her family's enchanted talking sword, Ex, and they were captured and imprisoned together.
A woman named Torture Tortura comes in one day and tells her that she is to be tortured. The princess laughs at the idea of torture, as she was trained exactly to resist anything that came her way. With Ex at her side, even in shackles, she feels confident she can defeat any torture!
So they bring out an iron maiden, open it up, and inside is...! Toast.
The princess is confused, but the snap of the bread, the butter and the satisfying crunch. And her starving stomach. Against her will, she has no choice but to give in to the torture, having a toast party!
The series goes on like that for so long, her steeling herself against the next torture, only to give in because of a friend, something delicious, or something so adorable it physically hurts. And all her secrets she is forced to give up... are things like "the king likes to take early morning walks."
Then the bonus anime scenes are just in line with the series.. Tortura gets sick, so she cares for herself with a nice meal she never gets to eat often. And she spoils herself and lets herself eat what she knows she shouldn't. And then the characters go to the beach and play around, sometimes secrets are even forgotten in the midst of fun.
Something like that should anger the demon lord, but he has a deep, satisfied, snarling laugh at the idea of having fun. And when his young daughter, Maomao-chan is the one doing the tortures, he all but lights up with joy at her work. And then we even get spoiled with his home life, where he builds cities out of paper or bakes with his wife and daughter.
I don't think this series could get more wholesome if it tried to.. I half expected something like Warumono-san, but this wasn't even that! It was somehow even MORE heart wrenching than Warumono-san.
I actually do not want to spoil this series for once, as there is a very, very high chance no one reading this watched it. A title like 'Tis Time for "Torture", Princess is a very... interesting title, moreso for anime of a random, imprisoned young woman.
My favorite character of all of them is split between the Kuromi-like Vanilla and the gyaru-themed Krall. I have them both on my tomodachi life islands as I type this.
