this is a writing snippet from Durand, my unreleased gothic drama story. this is the very intro of the tale, which intends to describe the daughters of Suramonte, Calla Durand and Brienna Suramonte.

The first example of the mark of a god is how intense the first strike is. One who knows you by your fake will strike what he wants to hurt, yet one who knows you by your soul strikes your heart. The one who knows best punishes the weakness they know. In the same breath, when one reaches out a hand, you have only your perception to guide you. A god would see all, justice over the body and soul, and the fallacy of the hands that pray to know it.

In this world of men, raw gods would exist as they wish, coming and going freely without an ounce of suspicion. Man thinks himself a god, and a man who sees a man claiming to be god is thought to be weak. This is the human mind at work, something so inventive, yet incapable of seeing in more than one dimension. It may call itself unique and inspired, having been touched by the heavens, but it falls short in one crucial element. There is not enough time, even in infinity, to know every detail of something. So, for the human mortal, we tap into virtue and will above reason, chasing fleeting breaths that come so sparsely. 

We become mortal gods, but we fall into the trap of never being able to come close to such a concept. Where even time is no issue, it would not mean the start of a great science; rather, it would be the start of pure sin disguised as renaissance. Where some would dream of infinity and research until time immortal, the cruel truth is that a human is a violent thing. When given a new hand, so to speak, we would simply strike each other, retreat into our own perception. We would know the soul out of habit, not out of practice and goodness.

If a human was made, crafted with foam in the image of beauty, those born out of lesser pastures would strike before the comparison could be made. If I were to give a word to describe humanity above all else, I would name it Sin.
