This page has to do with my AU/selfshipping with Julian and his friends/family (as per my AU). The end goal is to have these characters become just my OCs, as well as to never let my love for Julian fade.
I've been dying to make these characters my own, deliver them from the mediocrity of having to share voicelines into the state of becoming their own characters. I have had personal headcanons on these characters forever, and I'm more than happy to spend this day (2/14/2026) to finally write it down. A Valentine's present to my 'family'.

My Julian is one of the most important things to me. I have his heart in my wallet in the form of a custom-made Amiibo Card... Someday, when I get better at making things, I want to put the little chip I printed him on inside a plushie of my own, that way I can always have him. I want to do the same for my Eddie, as well, but I fear I don't have any NFC of him made like I do Julian.
Julian means a lot to me, I believe. As someone who doesn't feel emotions very strongly, the fact that I am so attached to anything like him is interesting. I think it's a sign that he is supposed to be with me, forever and onward, and I have no objections. I plan to redesign Julian and Eddie, even, so that I can have full ownership over them and their stories. I think that's allowed, anyhow. It'll be just Julian and Eddie, not Julian and Ed the Smug Horse villagers.
In time, I might take the entire snapshot of my island in that way, with Julian, Eddie, and Stella. I love them all dearly, kind of like a fictional family unit. In that day, I think I'll finally be able to leave New Horizons and focus on my own fan works and simulations using their characters.
That kind of goal is why we make these kinds of shrines, is it not? Or do we just make them to endulge senselessly and giggle for fun? I think that's more like it.
In my mind, I imagine Julian to be very... glamourous and diva-esque. You would imagine he is serene and poetic, because he presents himself that way, but he is actually very impatient.
Eddie is the one who he relates most to, and the pair are close, as they're second cousins raised as brothers. The pair acts similarly, although they get irritated with each other for their differences that they do have. Julian is very snarky and bratty, a genuine tease who can get under Eddie's skin. Eddie, on the other hand, is a cooler sort who is obsessed with vanity for the pure artistry of it, not for the status of it. Where Julian exaggerates himself, Eddie leans into a harder, more tough edge, purposefully contrasting it with the muscular androgyny that lets him exist outside of one definition. However, he is jealous of how seamless and effortless androgyny comes to Julian, so he constantly shadows Julian.
Julian has a lot of hobbies, but his main object of his time is Astrology. He believes he has a special connection to the stars and spirits in the world, which Eddie notes has always been his main fascination. He constantly wears things that remind him of the stars and will stay up late for cups of coffee on bright nights. He seems to have a peculiar sense for astral events, and his wishes on shooting stars seem to always come true.
I've always seen Eddie as a more alt-leaning character. Like Bella is alt, Candy is alt, they're giving like punk/mallgoth/metal. But Eddie gives me a strong androgynous/artsy-alt vibe. Both him and Julian have that purple eyeshadow/highlight and love Gorgeous things, but Eddie loves black and gray as his favorite colors. (Julian's are purple and blue, naturally.)
I can envision him listening to some post-punk and some Bowie or Depeche Mode? The kind of music you muse and brood to and don't dance to. Then, when he wants to dance, he puts on only some smooth hip-hop like he listens to in-game. He knows all the New Wave, he has a poster of Billy Idol on his wall and will play White Wedding idly while he's in the tub. He's diverse, he has a good sense of taste and considers himself a master of his stereo system.
Compared to Julian, whose tastes are just 'extravagant', he appreciates a refined and acquired taste for the things he does. His fashion taste is expensive, but he focuses on a simple chic, where one garment speaks his entire soul. He and Julian often trade and swap clothes, but he would rather die than wear anything other than black.
If we're being honest... my dearest Stella is perfect as she is. She's sweet, loves to read, is painfully shy, but always has a heart of gold. She's a baker, a chef, and an expert crafter and hobbyist. I have her house filled with sewing related things and magazines. I also headcanon that she shaves herself in the summer and will take care of her own wool so that she can knit sweaters for the winter. The perks of being a sheep.
I also had a sense for her that she could have some Slavic heritage... I don't remember what sparked that for me, but I enjoy the thought of her being something like a shy girl from Belarus who moved to wherever she'll end up when she was just a little sheep.
When she gets redesigned, I want to name her Estelle or Estella, maybe even Heather or Estera. Her name is never the issue, it's just that she needs a new one to become her own item in the eyes of copyright. I'll probably land on something else, though, as I've also been drawn to Lisabeth as well.
When she gets redesigned, I'll make her more pastel, I think. I want her to stay a rich and rare magenta-tinged purple, but I think I can really make her overall character more cozy. She deserves it...
As for her connection to the other two, she is Julian's fashion friend. And Eddie's music friend, by extension.
I don't have anything to show for this yet... I only decided I want to redesign him at all today!
The best thing you can do for your selfship/familial characters is redesign them so that you can legally own them, trust.
